TED Lagos

WE MADE HISTORY. I'm overjoyed to have taken part in TED's first official event in Western Africa: TED Lagos.

THE TALK

Everyone has a name. Our names tell dynamic stories about our past and future. In my talk, everyday people around the world shared their name stories. Heart felt and passionate video touched on identity, migration, origin, self-worth, ancestry, ownership, assimilation, and perseverance.

Taking it further, behind every name lies context to a person's world view, challenges and ambitions - all that influence their leadership, creativity, or innovation. As Africans and young people from emerging economies increasingly influence tech, art, business, and thought globally, their names and stories become more imperative to accept and understand.

As such, embracing one's name gives you an exclusive look into the potential of their global impact and a future that will become all of our own.
